Ron Carlton, Director, brings 25 years of government and government relations experience to SMI, including senior roles on and off Capitol Hill.
Prior to joining SMI, Ron served as Director of Economic Development for Senator Edward Kennedy, Legislative Director for Representative Lori Trahan, and Legislative Director for Representative Marty Meehan. In those roles, he worked on appropriations, energy and environment, infrastructure, and tax policy. He also served as Legislative Director at The Trust for Public Land and Primacy Strategy Group, where he advanced legislation on Capitol Hill and authored detailed analyses of federal legislative and regulatory developments.
Ron holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Mary Washington and a Master of International Policy and Practice (M.I.P.P.) from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.
