WASHINGTON, December 20, 2024 – SMI continues to build out its bipartisan roster of seasoned government affairs professionals with the addition of Steven Wolfe, a veteran lobbyist, public policy expert, and think tank scholar with decades of experience in defense, technology, and health care.

Wolfe, who was most recently a founder at Cardinal Point Strategies, previously served as senior policy advisor to the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, where among his duties he managed the defense appropriations and authorization process for one of the most effective national security legislators.

“Steve is deeply rooted in federal policymaking and budgeting and we are thrilled that he is bringing to our firm his unsurpassed record leading successful advocacy campaigns for a range of corporate and university clients,” said CEO Bill McCann. “We are also honored to welcome some of his current clients into the SMI fold and are confident they will be in good hands as we work together to advance solutions for a host of national security, public health, and economic challenges.”

Among the clients that Steve will be bringing to SMI are Scientific Systems Company, Inc., Tonix Pharmaceuticals, and Colibrium Additive, a GE Aerospace company.

“A look at SMI’s staff roster shows that they have assembled the ideal mix of seasoned Capitol Hill veterans and technical experts from the executive agencies,” said Wolfe. “Together we will add extra value for my existing clients and support their thriving business.”

Wolfe also served as executive director of The Alliance for Artificial Intelligence in Health Care, a global advocacy organization dedicated to “the discovery, development and delivery of better solutions to improve patient lives.”

In addition, he was a research associate at the Brookings Institution and Henry L Stimson Center, specializing in post-Cold War national security policy and the roles and missions of the US armed forces.

Wolfe holds a B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University and a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Founded in 1993, SMI has been the premier choice in Washington for companies, universities, nonprofits, and industry associations for federal marketing and lobbying services focused on national security, defense, clean energy, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and research and development.
