Mr. Fleming has made key contributions to unmanned undersea vehicles, vertical flight aircraft, military jet engines, propulsion, and alternative energy systems. Previously, he oversaw a $6 million research and development investment to develop an Underwater Data Center system architecture, advanced cooling, and renewable power schemes. Companies under his leadership have been the recipients of multiple Department of Energy Awards totaling over $22 million. In 2003, Mr. Fleming led a $8.5 million effort for the Advanced Development Unmanned Underwater Vehicle project. This work included novel manufacturing, engineering processes, computer-aided engineering (CAE) tool development, ballast design, thermal management, acoustic treatments, configuration management, propulsive design, energy sources, and modular instrumentation packages.
Mr. Fleming holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University.
