Arun Seraphin

Expert in Materials Technology and Head of NDIA Critical Technology Think Tank

Arun Seraphin is an expert in Department of Defense acquisition and procurement policy. He is currently the Executive Director of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). He served for over seven years as the lead staffer for Senator Jack Reed on the Senate Committee on Armed Services, where he worked on small business issues, science and technology, test and evaluation, and civilian STEM and acquisition personnel policy and was responsible for oversight of DOD science and technology.

Prior to that, Dr. Seraphin served as Principal assistant director for national security and international affairs at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. There, he assisted in supervising senior policy advisors and support staff, in developing policies, technical analyses, and support to the President's Science Advisor and other senior leaders on issues including nuclear non-proliferation, cybersecurity, chemical and biological defense, intelligence programs, defense, and homeland security research and technology.

Dr. Seraphin holds a Ph.D. in Electronic Materials and Nanotechnology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. in American Government from Stony Brook University.
