Previously, BG Schmitt was a Senior Consultant to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he supported the development of processes to approve small Unmanned Aircraft System flights in the National Airspace System. He also led the State of North Dakota’s proposal effort in winning selection as a FAA UAS National Test Site. Prior to that, he was an Executive with the Boeing Company where he led force modernization and technology development, systems engineering, and program management activities on the Army’s Brigade Combat Team Modernization/Future Combat System program. BG Schmitt began his career with the U.S. Army where he served in command and staff positions of increasing responsibility including Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations of the Kosovo Forces and Director of the Army Digitization Office.
BG Schmitt holds a B.S. in Chemistry from Saint Bonaventure University and a M.S. in Systems Management from the University of Southern California.
