Bill Berl, Vice President, brings over 20 years of experience working in industry, on Capitol Hill, and in the U.S. military, to help clients secure programmatic funding by leveraging the congressional appropriations process, marketing to federal agencies, and identifying strategic business-to-business partnerships.
Prior to joining SMI in 2020, Bill worked for two major defense corporations, Orbital ATK (which was acquired by Northrop Grumman) and Israel Aerospace Industries, securing federal policy and funding in support of aerospace, munition, and advanced IT programs. Bill began his professional career in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer before serving two senior members of Congress as their National Security Advisor.
Bill earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Illinois and an M.A. in National Security Policy from the George Washington University. He also holds a post-graduate degree in Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
