Nichole Vivanco-Stapleton, analyst, has experience in policy analysis from the Frank Batten School of Public Policy & Leadership specializing in defense and national security policy. She presented research on how artificial intelligence could reshape defense strategies, focusing on Russia, and the need for updated AI legislation in 2023. Nichole supports SMI’s clients through research and analysis of defense policy issues.

Prior to joining SMI, Nichole worked as a paralegal intern for Forthright legal where she supported clients by researching and writing country condition reports, translating testimony and assisting on legal briefs for asylum cases. During this time, she also worked as a business intern for a contracting company. Nichole actively participates in several volunteer roles and is fluent in Spanish.

Nichole holds a B.A. in Public Policy & Leadership and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia.
